Information Evening (Woodenbridge) – Wicklow Trails Heritage Recording Project

October 18, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

As work gathers pace on the Wicklow Trails Heritage Recording Project, an Information Event for the communities of Woodenbridge, Avoca, Rathdrum and surrounding area, takes place on the 18th of October.

The Wicklow Trails Heritage Recording Project is seeking to build a rich database of images, film, audio and text about the nature, history, folklore and archaeology found along walking trails from Bray to Woodenbridge.

This will ensure we have authentic and extensive information to choose from when it comes to promoting local tourism in the towns and villages along the way, it is also a great opportunity to create a permanent community heritage archive.

BECOME INVOLVED:

The information event will share more details of the project and most importantly, how to become involved.

We want to meet the communities, to discover the local heritage and hear the stories and folklore that are unique to the area.

Abarta Heritage who have been commissioned to undertake the project will discuss some of the incredible places found along the trails, including Avondale House, the Meetings of the Waters, the important mining and industrial heritage as well as the stories of the towns and villages themselves.

All of the information gathered during the project will be available on the Our Wicklow Heritage website.

Please come along to the Woodenbridge Hotel on the 18th October at 4pm to meet the team and find out more.

The Wicklow Trails Heritage Recording Project is a joint initiative of the Wicklow Uplands Council and Wicklow County Council.
The project is funded and supported by The Heritage Council.
