"Our mission is to promote the sustainable use and enjoyment
of the local environment in partnership with the people
who live, work and recreate there."
The project aims to develop a network of interpretive panels on natural and built heritage in villages in County Wicklow. The project works on a partnership between village communities, Wicklow County Council and Wicklow Uplands Council. The village of Aughrim and town of Blessington are the two pilot sites in this project. The village of Laragh is next to follow. Other potential sites include Rathdrum, Enniskerry, Tinahely, Baltinglass, Dunlavin, Ashford and Roundwood. Community groups are encouraged to provide information on heritage sites within their area and to take ownership of the panel. The project is partly funded by the Wicklow Rural Partnership Leader+ programme and all involved partners.
