SUAS Pilot Project at the 2019 National Ploughing Championships

Come and visit the SUAS Pilot Project as it exhibits at the 2019 National Ploughing Championships on Thursday the 19th of September.

Discover how the Sustainable Uplands Agri-environment Scheme (SUAS) project is finding solutions to address the decline in the biodiversity and hill farming activities in the Wicklow and Dublin Uplands.

Declan Byrne, Project Manager of the SUAS Project will on hand to share details of the project and the progress it is making on nine locations in the uplands. Now in its second year, the innovative project has been working closely with established commonage groups, farmers, an ecologist and other professionals, to create and implement a land management plan for each of these sites.

Launched in 2018 by Wicklow Uplands Council, the five-year SUAS pilot project is one of 23 European Innovation Partnership for Agriculture Productivity and Sustainability (EIP-AGRI) projects established in Ireland. Each of the EIP groups have been invited to exhibit at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s large marquee at scheduled times throughout the three day event.

Please come and visit the SUAS Project Team on Thursday the 19th of September from 1.30pm. The marquee is located on Block 3,  Row 19,  Stand 422.
